8th Month Update
This month has been another challenging one. The pleural effusion hasn’t improved with chemotherapy, but after starting chemotherapy, the lingering side effect of constipation from taking targeted drugs disappeared. Daily bowel movements became smooth. However, after each chemotherapy session, the liver indices (AST/ALT) slightly rise to the 30s (normal values are in the 20s). I can tell when this happens as my nose swells, and my hands and feet become cold.
During this month, I consulted with Dr. Tsai Song-Yan in Taichung. I learned that the cause of this illness might be entangled karmic forces. I’ve sought help from temples in Taichung and organized two prayer ceremonies(法會). I’ve also made vows to recite scriptures, dedicating the merits to my ancestors. Additionally, I’ve performed burning rituals for transcendence(超度疏文) and offered Four Guardian Kings rituals(四方金).
